Projects for Mom

I've started a garden fever in many people. One being my mom. She asked me to go pick out plants with her and help her plant them. We had planned on doing much more, but I'm glad we didn't.
We planted some "butterfly weed" in the front bed. They look a bit sad and droopy in the pictures but after a watering and a few hours later they perked back up.
I can't explain my face in these pictures...

I transplanted two tomato plants. The fruit should be ready on June 7.

The main project of the day was to fill this bed with plants. Instead we loosened up the soil and mixed in some compost. It felt like it took hours. The far part is finished in the picture below. The foreground will give you an idea of what we started with:

The "fans" that we took out are the offspring of an iris my Nana put in (probably) before I was even born. You can kind of see them in the before picture.

I'm pooped! and calloused.
